The Mari Lwyd

£22.99

On a darkened moorland in south Wales, a hooded revenant quietly stalks through the dark December night. If you listen closely, the faint chime of bells can be heard on the wind as it roars across the fields and into the town.

"Is it Santa?" The little ones ask, in whispered excitement. But you know otherwise, for it is the season of the Mari Lywd.

"Make sure to lock your door tonight children" you say. "Lock your door and remember to say your prayers."

This is an updated version of a print that I first attempted in 2022 - the figure of Welsh myth, the Mari Lwyd.

Each print is hand-carved and pressed using high-quality Cranfield oil-based ink, which contrasts boldly against the textured lokta paper. The design is born from an original hand-drawn sketch, then carefully carved into linoleum and printed manually, ensuring every piece is unique.

Minor imperfections may appear due to the traditional printing method—these are part of the charm, adding texture and authenticity to each handmade print.
